6th Grade Classes

Core:
The core classes of math, language arts, science and social studies are taught in a schedule that allows flexibility. Thematic units are presented over the year.

Family Consumer Science/Industrial Technology:
Sixth grade family consumer science classes learn the basics of sewing, cooking, grooming and consumerism. In industrial technology students complete projects in transportation , communication, manufacturing, power and energy, and construction.

Character Education:
Students will develop a foundation in the following core values: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.

Physical Education:
Lifetime fitness and health are the primary goals of this class. Adaptive classes are available for those who qualify.

Art:
Art classes have three components: Art History, Art Appreciation, and Studio Production. (The year long class has more advance instruction in all three areas).

General Music:
Students in this class are instructed in the concepts of music appreciation and singing. (The all year class offers increased and extended instruction).

Computers:
Keyboarding is emphasized with instruction on using technology as a productivity, communication and research tool.

 

7th Grade Classes

Core:
The core classes of math, language arts, science andsocial studies are taught in a five period block. There will be several thematic units of study over the year.

Family Consumer Science/Industrial Technology:
Seventh grade family consumer science takes a more in-depth look at nutrition, eating disorders, weight control and the food pyramid. Money management topics are also included.

Physical Education:
Health and fitness for life are the primary objectives for this class. Individual and group activities will make the class enjoyable. Adaptive classes are available for those who qualify.

Art:
Many exciting art projects await you in seventh grade art. You will create clay sculptures, drawn portraits, magnificent paintings, landscapes, containers, crazy collages and many more imaginative wonders. This is your opportunity to express yourself.

General Music:
Music appreciation and singing are the main objectives of this class.

Computers:
Students will use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.

 

8th Grade Classes

Core:
The core classes of math, language arts, science andsocial studies are taught in a five period block. There will be several thematic units of study over the year.

Family Living:
This class teaches some of the basic skills of parenting, stress management, relationship building, abuse, plus many other areas of human growth and development.

Physical Education:
Fitness for a lifetime and general good health are the main objectives of this class. Individual and group activities make this an enjoyable experience.

Computers:
Students will use technology resources for solving problems and making informed decisions.

Careers:
What do you want to be when you grow up? This class will explore future careers through the use of computers and up-to-date reference materials. Each student will have their own personal career folder.

Art:
Students will develop skills in drawing, painting, and sculpture with a focus on understanding the elements and principles of design in constructing various forms of artwork for creative expression.
