School Closing Announcements
School may be closed or delayed due to inclement weather or problems in the buildings. This can include snow, ice, extreme cold, fog, heat, water problems, etc. Usually, the determination to close school is made prior to 6:00 a.m. School Messenger system - will contact all parents/guardians by phone and/or e-mail using the emergency contact information in PowerSchool. To make sure you receive any such announcements, it is imperative that you keep your contact information current. Please contact your child's school office with any changes to your emergency contact information. Although we make every attempt to have our emergency announcements posted to the following television and radio stations, sometimes there are technical difficulties beyond our control that inhibit the process. Therefore, we suggest that you check our district website's HOME PAGE for the most reliable and up-to-date information. It is our request that you please not call schools or the central office, if possible, to keep the lines free for emergencies and communication purposes. Sometimes weather deteriorates once students have arrived at school. Usually, determination to close school early will take place prior to 11:00 a.m. In these cases, we follow the same procedure as explained in the previous paragraph regarding school closings. Also, please be advised that it is the policy of Central Community Schools that all extracuricular activities will be cancelled/postponed in the event of school closing for the day.
