• A Message from Principal Wichman •
Dear Middle School community:
Entering the school year I imagine there are a lot of questions about me as a principal and as person. So, I thought I would share a little about myself prior to the school year starting.
I grew up in Ottumwa, IA, where my mother raised four children, me being the second oldest. University of Northern Iowa is where I received my BA in Elementary Education, Minor in Mathematics, and focus on the middle level. While teaching 8th grade math and science at Urbandale Middle School, I met my wife, Amy.
I then attended graduate school at Iowa State University where I earned a Masters of Science in Administration and Policy Studies. This was also the time we had our first child, Emma. After spending two years as an administrator at Ventura CSD we moved to Bettendorf for an administrator position with Pleasant Valley. I have been with PV as a building principal for the past 11 years. During this time we added two more children to our family and I earned an Educational Specialist from Drake University.
My children are very active with dance, running, baton twirling, piano, and playing in the neighborhood. This equates to Amy and I being very busy as well. I enjoy running and over the past five years I have officiated high school varsity football.
I want each of you to know that I am dedicated to the learning of each student and staff member. There are many exciting changes taking place here and I am honored to be a part of what has been started.
